WHAT IS A TITHE?  (MALACHI 3:6-12)

Money represents the heart. It is always about the heart. When we give our tithe, it is given from the heart.

  • According to Mal 3:8-12 we must return to God with our money.

  • This Scriptures says: THE TITHE BELONGS TO THE LORD.

In other words, we don't have a choice what we do with it.

  • And the amount is not the issue.

  • The issue is being faithful TO GOD in giving the tithe (10% of your income), of all income God has given you, for that belongs to God.

The tithe is cricital because it sanctifies your life. Why?

Because we receive the money from a cursed system.

  • Genesis 1,3 speaks about the ground that is cursed. Therefore, when we bring the tithe to God, He sanctifies it.
  • In other words, it is set a part for the purposes of God.
  • God's promise when you are faithful according to Malachi 3:11-12 “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the Lord of hosts; And all the nations will call you blessed.

You bring the tithe to the storehouse

  • The storehouse is your local church where you are under authority.

  • Where is spoken into your life. Where you learn. It is a body of believers you are connected to.

  • You are accountable and you take responsibility there. That is the storehouse.

WHAT IS AN OFFERING? (2 COR 9:5-11)

Going beyond Tithing to break the poverty-cycle in your life. Because this is where multiplication happens.

It is not rocket science:  He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. (2 Cor 6:9)

  • After giving the tithe, what is left is seed.
  • Now we need to sow seed. This is where the faith-element comes within your life which brings abundance.
  • Verse 10: He who supplies (firstly) seed to the sower and (secondly) bread for food.
  • You cannot eat your seed.  God says you have enough.
  • So you have to sow, to break the poverty-cycle in your life, so that your seed can be multiplied back to you.
  • And God will also provide for you the bread to eat.

So, first the Tithe (10%) because it belongs to God.

Then, secondly sowing seed by giving an offering, in other words giving beyond the Tithe. And this is where multiplication happens.

Biblical Guidelines on how to give after you already Tithed

5 But I want it to be a willing gift, not one given grudgingly.

6 Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop.

7 You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”

8 And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.

10 For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, He will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you.

11 Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous.

MALACHI 3:6-10

Malachi 3:6 (NKJV) “For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore, you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob. Yet from the days of your fathers You have gone away from My Ordinances And have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you,” Says the Lord of hosts. “But you said, ‘In what way shall we return?’ “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation.

10Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.

11And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts. 12And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts.
